History

Down Syndrome Family Resource Center was formed to provide resources, information, and support for families who have a loved one with Down Syndrome. Although the internet is a great resource with endless information, interacting with other families and sharing life’s experiences have a far greater impact. To meet this need, our goal is to provide social and educational experiences monthly. DSFRC welcomes all individuals with special needs at our events, with no exclusions. Our events are for everyone!!

Down Syndrome Family Resource Center was established as a non-profit corporation with the State of California in 2015. The application of the 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit status was approved and our tax-exempt status was effective on April 21, 2015.  As such, the corporate officers and parental advisory committee members are volunteers. Each person donates their time and money to ensure our families receive the most rewarding experiences. Each of the volunteers has been working in the special needs’ community for years, and some for decades.

DSFRC operates entirely on the support of our gracious sponsors. Every dollar donated is used to provide activities and services to the families in our immediate community who attend our events. DSFRC also offers support to other charitable organizations within the community.
